Like the new 328 GTB, the Mondial's engine grew in
both bore and stroke to 3.2 L

Available in both Coupe and Cabriolet forms,
styling was refreshed with restyled and body-coloured
bumpers, similar to the 328, and new wheels.
The 3.2 also boasted a major interior update,
with a more ergonomic layout

The 1988 Mondial 3.2 would be the final model year that
retained the relatively low maintenance costs of the 308/328
drivetrain, allowing major service items like timing belt and
clutch replacement to be performed with the
engine/transmission package still in the car.

Ready for the 2000 season, Unlike the roadcar's gearbox,
the Challenge one is fitted with its own oil-cooler to reduce operating temperatures. The important connection between

the gearbox and engine, the clutch, is a racing synterised one.

Not only is the suspension lowered by an inch, but it is also modified to handle the added stress of driving on the track. Modifications to the road car's suspension include replacing the electronic damping system with racing Boge shock absorbers, fitting racing springs and aluminium suspension bushes, lowering the ride height by just over an inch and fitting a stiffer, 22 mm rear anti-roll bar. Further modifications on the car were focussed on reduction of weight and increasing driver safety.

room for the location of the twin radiators in the rear.

The 328 followed the Ferrari 308 but featured a transversely
mounted V8 with an enlarged bore and stroke

The DOHC engine with Bisch K-Jetronic Fuel injection was capable
of producing 270 horsepower, power was transferred to the rear
wheels through the use of a 5 speed manual transaxle.

The name ‘328’ was attributed to its 3.2 litre eight cylinder engine.
The GTS known as the Spider or Targa, has a removable roof
panel and proved to be extremely popular outselling the
Berlinetta bodystyle by almost 4 to 1.
